From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Swallow This Live is the first live album by American glam metal band Poison. It was released in 1991 through Capitol Records. The album peaked at number 51 on The Billboard 200, and was certified Gold platinum in 2001 by the RIAA.
The album features 16 live tracks from Poison's first 3 studio albums Look What the Cat Dragged In, Open Up and Say...Ahh! and Flesh & Blood, and was recorded in Miami, Orlando, and Tampa, Florida during the band's Flesh & Blood world tour. It also contains four new studio tracks, which were the last recorded before guitarist C.C. DeVille departed from the band later that year. One track, So Tell Me Why, was released as a single and reached number 25 in the United Kingdom in November 1991 and features a music video. "Guitar Solo" was named the worst guitar solo ever by Guitar World magazine in 2004.
Capitol Records released a digitally remastered edition of Swallow This Live in a single-disc format on June 1, 2004. Aside from the bonus studio tracks, this release is missing "Poor Boy Blues," the drum solo, and the guitar solo. In addition, much of the profanity from the original release has been edited out and the track listing was slightly altered to have "Every Rose Has Its Thorn" as the last song on the disc.

Review by Steve Huey

An energetic double-disc live set that touches on nearly all of the group's hits up through Flesh and Blood, plus many of their better album tracks, Swallow This Live is of definite interest to the devoted Poison fan. Of course, it's largely over the top and has moments of excess -- the 6:30 drum solo and the 9:30 guitar solo being prime examples -- but that nicely sums up the spirit of the time period. Four new studio tracks are included as an added enticement.
