• Product Description:: Among the earliest supergroups (at least in their native Britain), Cream's titanic trio--guitar god Eric Clapton, jazz bassist and vocalist Jack Bruce, and thundering drummer Ginger Baker--was justifiably revered for its vivid[EJM1], virtuoso instrumental attack. What began as a logical excursion into heavily blues- and jazz-accented power-rock shifted, on their second and best album, Disraeli Gears, into a British variant on America's psychedelia, powerfully influenced by expatriate string-slinger Jimi Hendrix. This smartly resequenced four-CD box divides the trio's four original albums into discrete studio and live segments, the latter approximating a full concert. Granted, phantom fourth member lyricist Pete Brown doesn't fare well given lyrics that now sound merely incoherent, rather than heavy, but there are still plenty of sparks flying here, as well as a panoply of powerful, indelible riffs, starting with "Sunshine of Your Love" and continuing right through "Badge."

After releasing four seminal albums, Cream broke up as quickly as they had come together, with all three members going on to solo careers of great acclaim.THOSE WERE THE DAYS brings together Cream's musical output in a deluxe four-CD set that's neatly halved between studio and live material.
Meticulously compiled and remastered, DAYS includes every studio recording the band ever released,as well as previously unreleased demos, masters, rare and alternate takes. The live half of the box set is primarily culled from seminal performances at legendary venues like San Francisco's Winterland and Fillmore West.
The sound has been considerably cleaned up allowing the listener to hear every nuance of these extended flights of jazz-flavoured blues-rock improvisation. The package surrounding Cream's timeless musical output sports a DISRAELI GEARS-style day-glo coverand a 48-page colour book. The accompanying notes, complemented by dozens of previously unpublished photos, provide an intimate glimpse into the brief, but groundbreaking career of the original power trio.

• Cream were a 1960s British rock supergroup consisting of bassist/vocalist Jack Bruce, guitarist/vocalist Eric Clapton, and drummer Ginger Baker. Their sound was characterised by a hybrid of blues rock, hard rock and psychedelic rock, combining the psychedelia-themed lyrics, Eric Clapton's blues guitar playing, Jack Bruce's voice and blues bass playing and Ginger Baker's jazz-influenced drumming. The group's third album, Wheels of Fire, was the world's first platinum-selling double album. Cream is widely regarded as being the world's first notable and successful supergroup. In over two years, they sold over 35 million albums.
• Cream's music included songs based on traditional blues such as "Crossroads" and "Spoonful", and modern blues such as "Born Under a Bad Sign", as well as more eccentric songs such as "Strange Brew", "Tales of Brave Ulysses" and "Toad". Cream's biggest hits were "I Feel Free" (UK, #11), "Sunshine of Your Love" (US, #5), "White Room" (US, #6), "Crossroads" (US, #28), and "Badge" (UK, #18).
• Cream made a significant impact upon the popular music of the time, and along with Jimi Hendrix popularised the use of the wah-wah pedal. They provided a heavy yet technically proficient musical theme that foreshadowed and influenced the emergence of British bands such as Led Zeppelin, Deep Purple, and The Jeff Beck Group in the late 1960s. The band's live performances influenced progressive rock acts such as Rush, jam bands such as The Allman Brothers Band, Grateful Dead, Phish and heavy metal bands such as Black Sabbath.
• Cream was ranked #16 on VH1's 100 Greatest Artists of Hard Rock and Rolling Stone named them the sixty-sixth greatest artist of all time. In 2010 VH1 also ranked them #61 on their 100 Greatest Artists of All Time.
