Ministry of Sound's Chillout Sessions, Vol. 3 is one of the better compilations with the word "chillout" in the title. While the vast majority of such packages favor nondescript fluff -- selections that are much closer to "sloth-hop" than trip-hop -- this one might actually feature more than two or three artists whose names you recognize. The two-disc set is pointlessly divided by themes: the first is "Pool Beats," the second is "Beach House." Disc one features Moby ("We Are All Made of Stars"), Air ("All I Need"), Basement Jaxx (the acoustic mix of "Romeo"), Felix da Housecat (his overlooked "Runaway Dreamer"), and Nuyorican Soul (4hero's remix of their cover of Rotary Connection's "I Am the Black Gold of the Sun"). Disc two features Saint Etienne ("Action"), X-Press 2 ("Lazy"), Shakedown (an alternate mix of "At Night"), and Layo & Bushwacka ("Love Story"). A decent, varied compilation.
