In 1986, Graceland sold 14 million copies worldwide and garnered both the Album and Song of the Year Grammy in 1987. Simon and the members of Ladysmith Black Mambazo performed on Saturday Night Live and appeared on the cover of Rolling Stone. It generated three hit singles and it kept Paul Simon and the Graceland tour on the road for five years. Its music was heard across the globe. Today, its music and its reputation still reach generations of music enthusiasts yet so many are unaware of how pivotal that one album was during the 1980s, how it helped birth the idea of World Music and revived the career of one of America's most important songwriters. How it influenced the political progress of South Africa a country divided by institutionalized racism, causing and then transcending years of controversy. Paul SIMON "You're the One" (2000)

Как всегда у Саймона - красиво (местами) и изящно. Но этот альбом оставляет и ощущение какой-то мелодической неконкретности. Размытости какой-то. Иногда просто становится скучно. Похоже на плохо-структурированный поток музыкального сознания (местами, опять же). Хороший альбом, но далеко не шедевр, какими были его предшественник - "Грейсленд" и "Ритмы святых".
Лучшая песня (на мой взгляд) - Teacher, хороша также - Love, но хитами их не назовёшь. Хитов здесь вообще нет, что для Саймона вообщем-то нехарактерно... ИМХО

Странно рейтинг - 8, а комментариев - 0.Возьму на себя смелость написать первым в этом релизе.Уже как то были дебаты кто лучше Саймон - Гарфанкель.Поэтому выскажусь просто о присутствующем персонаже дуэта.Мне нравится сам стиль,особенно подкупает (и это хорошо видно на видео)откровенность исполнения.Нет халтуры,есть исполнитель-талант-песня-зритель.
ДВД я только качаю.Мой пост основан на ранее увиденном на концертах Саймона и Гарфанкеля.Снимаю шляпу перед каждым из них!!!
