Peter Walker is an American folk guitarist noted for dextrous instrumental pieces that reference the Indian classical and Spanish flamenco traditions. Recognised principally for his recorded output in the mid-to-late sixties, his rediscovery by the current generation of American and European outsider folk artists has seen his work accorded similar reverence to that of other notable American finger-pickers such as John Fahey, Robbie Basho and Leo Kottke, and granted him a renewed platform for both touring and recording.

Gipsy Kings is the third album by the French Rumba Catalana band Gipsy Kings, which was released in 1987. The album was their first to reach a worldwide audience, going gold across France, the UK, USA and other countries. The US and European versions of this album are identical except in some cases the song order may differ. The Japanese version released in 1995 includes an alternate version of "Vamos A Bailar" from their latest albums. The song "Inspiration" from this album famously appeared in the season five episode of Miami Vice, "World Of Trouble", in June 1988.

Soul Journey is the fourth studio album by Gillian Welch. As with all of her previous releases, it is a collaboration with David Rawlings. In their preceding work, Time (The Revelator), Welch and Rawlings had experimented with using only acoustic guitar and banjo as accompaniment. With Soul Journey, they return to the more diverse and modern instrumentation of their early work, employing electric guitar, organ, and drums. As with Welch's other works, a strong American roots influence can be heard. This is perhaps most clear on the track, "No One Knows My Name", which borrows the melody from the Carter Family classic, "Motherless Children" and in Welch's reading of the traditional, "Make Me a Pallet on Your Floor".
