There's the Rub is the fifth studio album by rock band Wishbone Ash. It is the first album to feature guitarist/vocalist Laurie Wisefield, who would be a major part of the band's creative direction for the next 11 years. It also marked a change in sound. It was the band's first album to be recorded in America and was produced by legendary producer, Bill Szymczyk. Although the trademark twin guitars were still evident, the album had a more "American" feel with a smoother production sound. Nevertheless, after the disappointing critical response the previous studio album, Wishbone Four, reviews for "There's The Rub" were much more positive.

Grievous Angel is the second solo album by Gram Parsons, compiled from summer 1973 sessions and released four months after his death from a morphine and alcohol overdose in September 1973. It received great critical acclaim upon release, but failed to find commercial success, a fate shared with his previous efforts solo and with The Flying Burrito Brothers. Grievous Angel peaked at number 195 on the Billboard charts. Despite its modest sales, it is viewed as a successful example of the hybrid between country and rock and roll Parsons called "Cosmic American Music".

My Everything is the sixth studio album by Anita Baker, released on September 7, 2004. The album debuted at #4 on the US Billboard 200 selling 132,000 copies in its first week. As of May 2005, the album has sold 568,000 copies in the US and been certified Gold by the RIAA. It was Baker's first album for Blue Note Records and her first album of new material in ten years. For her comeback album, Baker wanted to be "in control" of everything, and once again teamed up with Barry J. Eastmond and George Duke. Kenneth "Babyface" Edmonds also contributed. Most of the tracks were cut live (meaning the band played while Baker sang). Baker wrote or co-wrote eight of the album's ten tracks. The last track, "Men in My Life" was written for her husband and two sons.
