The sole release from Mystique Featuring Ralph Johnson was issued by Curtis Mayfield's Curtom label distributed by Warner Bros. in the summer of 1977. Johnson was the lead singer of the '70s-era Impressions ("Finally Got Myself Together"). Recorded in Chicago and Philadelphia, the album has both luscious ballads and hot dance floor tracks. The standout tracks feature producer Bunny Sigler and his backup band Instant Funk. The steppers track "Is It Really You" charted R&B in June 1977 while the zesty Sigler/Don Covay song "What Would the World Be Without Music" was a dance hit. There are some nice ballads -- "All of My Life," "This Time I'll Be Your Fool," and "Somebody Somebody to Love Me."
