If you were fortunate enough to catch Girlyman before their untimely breakup, then you will recall their delightful between-song improvisations inspired by bits of banter and tuning. This release is a collection of these "tuning songs," recorded live. I can think of few groups that even could have issued such an album--the Grateful Dead?--and none that had the chutzpah to actually do so. And yet it works: on-the-spot masterpieces such as "Antipope" rank among Girlyman's finest achievements.
