Castle Canyon - Gods of 1973

INDIVIDUAL BIOS:

Fred Chalenor (BASS)
Fred has been a prolific, active player in the ‘prog/art rock’ milieu for many years. His first bass was made out of cardboard when he was in fourth grade. Fred saw Paul Revere and the Raiders on the television and was hooked on the look and sound of the electric bass guitar.
Moving to San Francisco in 1978, he met improvising guitarist Henry Kaiser, who introduced Fred to a lot of crazy music. Fred lived in New York in the early 80's and met and played with people like: Fred Frith, Chris Cochrane, Zeena Parkins, George Cartwrite, Mark Howell and many others. He moved to Seattle in the 80's and worked with Wayne Horvitz in The President, Pigpen, Motel 6, Zony Mash, the Walkabouts and many others.
The most recent touring he has done was with Slow Music Project: Peter Buck, Robert Fripp, Hector Zazou, Matt Chamberlain, Bill Reiflin

Erik Ian Walker- keyboards
Erik Ian Walker was inspired by all keyboard sounds as a kid. The Animals, Dave Brubeck, E. Power Biggs, it didn’t matter. It was all good. The first time he heard the Moog solo at the end of ‘Lucky Man’ by ELP, he stuck his ear against the speaker, and said “whatever the xxx that was, I’m getting one.” He got an ARP2600 shortly thereafter. While not the Moog, it was great, and was an amazing machine to learn about sound with.
In ’76 and studied electronic music and composition with John Adams and Alden Jenks at the San Francisco Conservatory of Music. Huge Buchla synth there. His career has included collaborations in modern dance, experimental theater, drag/androgyny performance and odd movies. Rock/blues keyboards mixed with gothic classicism, and austere, sensuous ‘soundtrack’ settings mixed with natural world sounds are his specialties.

Paul Elias - Drums
Paul is an incredible, thunderous rock drummer who Castle Canyon did not find in 1973, and damn if they didn’t need him something bad. Erik met Paul in the 1980’s, lost track of him, but found him again in the Castle Canyon time window last year. It has been the absolute foundation and reason this band has re-emerged. They finally found their drummer.
