Strange as it seems, young singer Nara Leao has been Bossa Nova's muse since the very beginning of the movement. Her name has been connected to every musical happening promoted by our youth for a long time now. Strange as it seems, she hadn't yet launched an album as an interpreter of the new generation. And strange as it seems, her debut record was not a Bossa Nova album, featuring an assorted repertoire that includes songs that have nothing to do with Bossa Nova, songs written by Cartola, Nelson Cavaquinho and Ze Keti. Some composers of the new generation (Carlos Lyra, Edu Lobo, Baden Powell and others) also get featured, but the songs of her choice had a distinct folk taste. And finally, another "strange as it seems": Nara forgets her calm personality and uses her unmistakably pure voice to create intense, modern renditions of the songs she picked, generating a strange and pleasant contrast.
