In 2013, Kitty and her mentor friends formed the band; "Kitty & the Stray Cats". The members included; Kyle Dean Smith; former banjoist/guitarist for John Hartford, Tom Mylet; old-time aficionado/ mandolin/ clawhammer banjo, Harrol Blevins; guitarist and luthier, and Donna Correll; bassist/vocalist and founding member of the old-time stringband, “The Wolfe Brothers”.
Kitty's debut album, "Fiddle Gems" was produced by old-time fiddler/scholar, musician; Jerry Correll, who advised Kitty with tune selection and other recording guidance. The album was recorded by Kitty Amaral and members of "The Stray Cats Band" along with other stellar guest musicians such as Wayne Henderson, Adam Hurt, Ron Mullennex, Carl Jones, and Steve Kilby in 2014 at the Eastwood Recording Studios. It was mixed by IBMA award-winning sound engineer, Wes Easter, Jerry Correll, and Kyle Dean Smith. “Kitty & The Stray Cats Band” plays many venues across North Carolina, Virginia, Tennessee and beyond.
