«Exclusive for Lossless-Galaxy»

By now, MEDIEVAL DEMON should require little introduction. Formed in that fateful year of 1993, MEDIEVAL DEMON remained one of the cultest entities of the immortal Greek black metal scene, releasing a handful of demos during the mid '90s and then their lost-classic debut album, "Demonolatria," in 1998. Not long after, the band receded into the shadows, in vampiric slumber, until awakening from the crypt in 2018 with the majestic comeback album, "Medieval Necromancy," through longtime fans HELLS HEADBANGERS, followed two years later by the equally acclaimed "Arcadian Witchcraft." Then, with the release of career highpoint Black Coven in 2022, MEDIEVAL DEMON had cemented their Second Era, which had now lasted as long as the original one.

And the Hellenic gods keep marching with the release of their fifth album, "All Powers of Darkness." Simply-yet-elegantly titled, "All Powers of Darkness" is indeed an apt descriptor for MEDIEVAL DEMON: their sound remains austere and unflinching, high drama taken even higher, but forever unbound and as wild as their hearts of hellflame. At this point, especially with the band retaining the same lineup for the third album in a row, little to no deviation from that mesmerizing mysticism is needed - it is MEDIEVAL DEMON, after all, and that eldritch fire burns eternally since these are four men who've LIVED IT since the glorious 1990s - but that doesn't mean that "All Powers of Darkness" doesn't feature some new hints of inspiration from the Greeks. One could successfully argue that the album evinces more grit or at least their most analog-sounding production to date, which goes down a storm with the emphasis on their "demonic orchestral" side here. Interestingly, the aggression has thus become more epic and dynamic, featuring that pulse so paradigmatic of classic Greek black metal as well as some truly inspired solos & leads, making this album the very definition of "wide screen." And the saxophone makes another appearance, haunting as ever...

Founding drummer & keyboardist Lord Apollyon explains the genesis of All Powers of Darkness: "In the midst of modernization, we go against - to hold onto the traditions of black metal and the spirit of our cult, which is a spiritual shield for our entire existence, the evil flame that burns into our black souls which is celebrated through every song we create that evolves from personal interpretations and ancient hymns that emphasize to invocations, ceremonies, practices, and principles of the Black Arts. When I compose, I use inversions of a tritone, 'the Devil’s notes,' that I produce by the same key, an old technique I admire. Then, each note of the music takes a certain direction, as a set of rituals which summon demons - in order to take versions. One of those versions, that one, that can be heard in full isolation, together with the cold winds in the night forest under the fullmoon…well, that one is what I call a song. I was heavily inspired once again by the practice of timpani that originates from ancient times, which were used in rituals, so it is beyond my powers to not use timpani parts the most often in my compositions, as I am a passionate ritualist. And once again, artwork is made by the unique artist and unholy brother Mark Riddick!"

The Devil notes that the Devi's notes are alive and well with the forever-undead MEDIEVAL DEMON. The bell tolls for "All Powers of Darkness!"
