Crown Heights Affair - Dance In Dream World [2CD] (1997)

Record companies sought self-contained bands in the '70s and '80s, preferring them to solo singers because they didn't need to supply them with producers, songwriters, session musicians, or background singers -- they simply signed the group, gave them an advance, and provided a date to deliver the goods. This resulted in some weak product regarding songwriting, producing, and even singing. Crown Heights Affair was a competent band from Brooklyn, NY who could do it all, but they didn't have a great singer, songwriter, or producer; their musicianship was their strongest link. Dance in Dream World features the albums Dance Lady Dance and Dream World compiled on two discs for more than 120 minutes of lackluster music. If you like European pop/disco, then this is up your alley. Of the two discs, the second is more substantial; some songs appear several times in various edits on disc one.
