Herman's Rocket Space Woman 1977 (2009)

A record as weird-sounding as you might guess from the cover -- one of the oddest 70s projects of Canadian producer Jean-Pierre Massiera! The tunes are somewhere in a space between disco and cosmic funk -- with some of the faster rhythms of the former,and lots of the trippy production of the latter -- some cool electronics,stretched out arrangements,and a fair bit of funky rhythms way down at the bottom of the mix! Vocals are pretty offbeat too -- sometimes sounding like an alien who's been taught English right before the session -- and like some of the best Canadian disco records of the time,the best moments are actually the instrumental tracks -- which have lots of keyboards and moogy moments.Titles include "The Last Tournament", "Spirit In The Wind","Transport Mission Security","Space Woman","Indian Planet","Space Rebel","Green Creature",and "Hanged In Univers".
