Short-lived hard rock group from the USA formed in the late 80s, featured Charlie Huhn (vocals), Jay Jesse Johnson (guitar), Joe Bouchard (keyboards, ex-Blue Oyster Cult), Dennis Dunaway (bass, ex-Alice Cooper) and Neal Smith (drums, ex-Alice Cooper), with all members sharing songwriting.
While Deadringer didn't qualify as a bonafide super group, the late '80s quintet was filled out with several heavy hitters from the '70s, as former Alice Cooper rail thin drummer Neal Smith and bassist Dennis Dunaway, combined forces with ex-Blue Oyster Cult member Joe Bouchard. Filling out the act was guitarist Jay "Jesse" Johnson and ever-ready vocalist Charlie Huhn. The group hung around for one studio LP, the ten song _Electrocutioner of the Heart_, before falling off the edge of the hard rock plane.
The 1989 release opens with the arena shakin' "Everybody Rock". The fist pumpin' anthem is powered by Huhn's strong vocals and a catchy riff. The Albert Brouchard (Joe's bro) and Debra Frost penned "When You're In You're In" follows the bold intro track, which carries a Kick Axe vibe.
It's off to generic power ballad land with "Love is a Killer" (sounds like an Alice Cooper title) and the melodic "Secret Eyes" comes off as a Night Ranger out-take. The band get back to chest beatin', bad boy rockin' on "Balls Out". "Summa Cum Loud", writen by BOC's Donald "Buck Dharma" Roeser, fails to carry the load, proving why the Cult didn't bother to use the track.
The down 'n' out "Double Talk" picks up the pace before Deadringer slide back in with another by-the-numbers ballad, the lackluster "Dangerous Love". The cruisin' "Bring on the Night" carries a hot summer vibe and the LP closes out with the four-minute "Unsung Heroes", which pays tribute to hard rock fans from coast-to-coast.
