Info:
wiki 2 albums by the duo of Dwike Mitchell and Willie Ruff -- pianist and bassist/French horn player, respectively. Brazilian Trip is a great bossa gem -- recorded in Brazil during a time that Columbia Records was handling a lot of recording sessions in the country -- with guest work by players that include Durval Ferreira, Chico Batera, and Candinho -- all of whom join in to give the record a nice light Brazilian jazz groove! The sound is almost bossa, but with that unique spare grooving approach that made Mitchell and Ruff so great -- and the record has a dreamy light finish that makes the whole thing sparkle nicely. Titles include "Nos", "Ah Voce", "Sonhando", "Nao Deixa", "Tanto Canto", "Deixa Pra La", "Nada Mais", "Sem Mais Chorar", and "Chuva". The Campus Concert album is older and from 1956 -- and is more of a straight piano trio side, with some of the whimsical touches that the group were using. Titles include "They Can't Take That Away From Me", "Out Of This World", "Body & Soul", "Round Midnight", "Little Girl Blue", and "My Heart Stood Still".
