The Buckinghams came to fame in 1967 via their Number One million selling pop hit, “Kind of a Drag”. They went on to two more chart hits in the same year: “Mercy, Mercy, Mercy” (a vocal reworking of the Cannonball Adderley jazz standard) and “Don’t You Care”. Swapping their original name, The Pulsations, for something more representative of the British Invasion, the band’s style was more soul and R&B based coupled with close vocal harmonies than “fab, gear”. “Made in Chicago” was the band’s 4th album, (a mixture of tracks from the 2nd and 3rd albums) and was originally released in 1969 on CBS.
