«Exclusive for Lossless-Galaxy»

Back in 1998 and after doing some work with Memory Garden, Dan Swanö (Edge Of Sanity, Nightingale, Unicorn, etc.) was inspired to do something similar in the epic but progressive doom heavy metal style himself. Since there were some pretty diverse cover songs that Swanö always wanted to record, he went ahead with a whole bunch of those (Depeche Mode, Sandra, Rainbow, Uriah Heep, Candlemass, UFO and Michael Schenker Group) between 2007 and 2009. In the end the versions all turned out so good that the whole 2010 re-issue project actually turned into a cover album called “Reinventing The Past”.

For the cover songs Swanö performed all the instruments, only leaving the solo parts on most of the tracks for Markus Vanhala as well as his brother Dag Swanö, Tino Kallioniemi, Morgan Petterson and Matt Moliti as further guests. This 2022 remix of “Reinventing the Past” finally gives these 7 cover songs (and an additional alternative upgraded version of MSG’s “Lost Horizons”) the production they deserved all along and the Odyssey EP is restored to the tone of the original 1999 release. Finally made available again via Century Media Records in 2024, it's about time to re-discover and enjoy the hidden gem of Swedish metal that Odyssey are in its definitive version…
