ESOTERICA - THE FOOL - 2008

Esoterica- группа из Великобритании играющая в стиле Progressive Metal/Alternative . Несмотря на то, что группе уже 2 года и они выпустили студийный альбом «The Fool», спродюссированный John’ом Fryer, изветным по работам с такими группами, как Nine Inch Nails, Him, Depeche Mode и т.д., информации, в том числе на офицальном сайте (esoterica1.com), очень мало. Esoterica с успехом выступали вместе на разогреве HIM. Сейчас Esoterica в турне по Объединённому Королевству.

Esoterica с успехом выступали вместе с HIM (между группа,кстати,мало общего, выступая на разогреве. Полагаю, можно было послушать разогрев и счастливым отправляться домой (фанаты химов,не обижайтесь,личное мнение). Сейчас Esoterica в турне по Объединённому Королевству. Надеюсь когда-нибудь их увидеть и у нас.
Удалось выудить информацию о двух участниках коллектива: Tobias - вокал и ударнике Luke'е, чьё име является поводом для шуток на тему звёздных войн на форуме среди фанатов.
Музыка Esoterica весьма неоднозначна, она сочетает в себе драйв и агрессивность альтернативной музыки, лиричность и мелодику классического рока, самобытность и уникальность присущую стилю progressive.
Социальная тематика в текстах напоминает такие группы как SOAD, Tool и Prisma.

Esoterica hails from Warlingham UK, but was founded in Africa. They are a well established rock band in the UK and have already supported the likes of H.I.M., playing on the KERRANG! Tour, and having successful radio play with their debut The Fool.

Their sound is being compared to the likes of Tool and A Perfect Circle. They do separate themselves from the crowd of industrial rock with Tobias’s vocals. The entire album is filled with dark guitar melodies mixed with some violins and other stringed orchestral instruments.

My personal favorite off The Fool, and seems to be a car favorite, is “Watch this Drive.” This song starts off with a clip from one of George Bush’s speeches that begins, “We Must Stop the Terror..” Any song that starts off with George Bush is going to be a politically charged song just as Pornocracy’s Evile. The song then proceeds into the very melodic wall of guitars and somber voice of Tobias. This song on the cd is noted as a demo. I think its great the way it is. It’s somber, dark, and delivers a message.

The other song off The Fool that I recommend listening to is “Don’t Rely on Anyone”. The beginning starts of with a strong guitar riff and a very smooth vocal line that leads into a very catchy chorus. The alternative acoustic version on the album I have is almost better than the original “plugged” version. Then again I am a sucker for acoustic performances.

The album was produced by John Fryer, who previously worked with H.I.M., NIN, and Depeche Mode among others. They weren’t messing around and brought out the big guns even on their first album.
