Paolo Tofani: Guitar, Vocals+Unknown MusiciansRather common until mid 90's, Electric Frankenstein album has recently become expensive and less easy to find.
It has a single cover and two different issues of the Cramps LP exist, with different numbers, see above for details.
No counterfeits exist, nor foreign issues.
The 2007 CD The complete Florence/London sessions, credited to "Paolo Tofani a.k.a. Electric Frankenstein", contains 19 unreleased recordings made, as the title suggests, in Italy and England between 1966 and 1973, including some tracks from the Electric Frankenstein album period.

This album inspired me to do some research. Unfortunately I came up empty handed. All I know about this group is that a gentleman by the name of Paola Tofani played guitar and sang with a group of musicians. It sounds like a pick up jam session in the studio, yet what you will hear is a very impressive rock-psych album that stands up today as probably some of the best of that era (1972-73). The sixties psychedelic genre was beginning to wind down and go in a different direction. Arena rock was going to grab hold of the youthful music listening public. This was recorded while an era was being ushered out, but it's a solid album with many highlights that will catch your ear and dazzle your senses.
The musicianship as a whole is consistently riveting while Tofani's lead guitar and vocals are commanding and compelling. Most of the songs start with a soft rhythm filled acoustic guitar that gradually blends into a more forceful and vigorous electric psychedelic-fuzztone sound that is incredibly crisp, clear and energized. "Music Man" is my personal favorite. It's over four minutes of vintage early seventies rock-psych bliss. Actually, every song on the LP is a gem in it's own right.
This is one of those lost treasures that have been unearthed by a quality reissue vinyl label (Akarma). You have to love the cover with a snapshot of Herman Munster, ahh...those were the days.
Please don't confuse this group with a more current punk group with same name. While conducting my research I found a lot of information on the web regarding Electric Frankenstein, it wasn't the group I was looking for though.
Pick up copy of this today before it disappears into the vast abyss of musical never never land.
Note: I encourage anyone who has an inkling of who Paola Tofani is (or was), and knows any history of this one-time session to contact me. I am totally intrigued and fascinated by all of this history.
