STEVE HOGARTH - ICE CREAM GENIUS - 1997

UK vocalist STEVE HOGARTH is an internationally known artist, first and foremost due to his lengthy and still ongoing tenure in Neo Progressive outfit Marillion. Prior to joining them in 1989 Hogarth was best known as a keyboardist though. It was that capacity he had for his first outfit Harlow, who split in 1981, and it was as a keyboardist he joined London based outfit The Europeans in 1981 - although he soon got vocal duties in that band.

In 1985 The Europeans disbanded, with Hogarth and bandmate Colin Woore forming the project How We Live. Poor sales of their initial effort soon ended that venture though, and when Hogarth decided to hook up with Marillion as a vocalist rather than joining The The as a keyboardist in 1988, history was made for him as well as the band.

However, as active a band as Marillion is, Hogarth have also found the time for a solo record. In 1997 he issued his first and so far only studio production of his own, Ice Cream Genius. Initially released under the artist moniker h in Europe, the album was subsequently reissued under his own name in the US one year later.

In 2002 the double live CD Live Spirit: Live Body became the second solo effort issued by Hogarth, and later on a DVD has been issued as well. Hogarth is working on additional solo material according to some sources, but when and if they will be released remains to be seen.
