THE BAND:
Mark Holiday / vocals; David Powell / keyboards; Vincenzo Lammi / drums; Rob Clark / bass; Steve Beighton / sax & keyboards; Rick Burns / guitars By 1988, Dave Powell and Mark Holiday had become disenchanted with the limitations of the traditional band paradigm and so surrounded themselves with studio technology and some guest musicians The result was Rude Politics, an album which sharply defined their approach to future writing and recording Rude Politics leans slightly away from the progressive rock of Journey to the East and a bit to the mainstream side, and it uses programmed drums In some ways, this compares to their previous work as Peter Gabriel s music compares to his former employers The haunting keyboards and atmospheric guitars evident on Journey to the East are all here, but the real delight is Mark Holiday s stunning vocal performance as Castanarc explore the darker side of their writing The original release was marred by the (then) record company s insistence on changing the running order and the artwork design Khepra Records now makes Rude Politics available as it was originally intended, beautifully remastered (in the correct order!) and with new packaging
