One of the most promising bands in the field is ICE AGE. They are composed by guitarist Jimmy PAPPAS, singer & keyboardist Josh PINCUS, drummer Hal APONTE, and bassist Arron DICESARE - both are absolute masters. The guitars, keyboards, drums and vocals are working full capacity. The music is very creative and refreshing with both the rockers and the ballads. They have a few similarities to DREAM THEATER but they are still unique. ICE AGE's influences range from other current progressive rock bands as DEEP PURPLE and BLACK SABBATH to the likes of RUSH, ELP, GENESIS, YES, PINK FLOYD, and KANSAS, to name a few.
"The Great Divide" is an outstanding debut album from ICE AGE showing the bands music to be progressive, metallic, melodic, and dramatic! This album recalls musical images of everyone from STYX and KANSAS to DEEP PURPLE and RUSH. Interesting stuff, indeed. Less metallic and aggressive than "TGD", "Liberation" is a step in the right direction for heavy progressive music. That's another aspect of "liberation". ICE AGE is definitely recommended to all fans of American progressive rock and metal.
