Early History:
Formed in Colorado in 1990, PSYCO DRAMA emered onto the Colorado music scene after the disbandment of the very popular local band FOOLISH PRIDE. PSYCO DRAMA quickly continued the momentum left off from the previous band and forged on to create an edgier sound and a broader fan base. As Progressive Metal began to dominate the Colorado music scene, PSYCO DRAMA continued to tour and perform across the state often with other Colorado Progressive Metal acts JAG PANZER, THE QUIET ROOM, THE DARK, SLIENT REIGN, and YOUR MOTHER'S NEXT.
PSYCO DRAMA quickly established themselves as a musical force to be reckoned with, being named one of the Top Ten unsigned bands in America in 1993 by Concrete Marketing, and performing at that year's Foundation's Forum convention. In 1995, PSYCO DRAMA released their first demo, which sold over 3000 copies, and garnered them praise from all over the globe, including Sentinel Steel, which stated that PSYCO DRAMA "...display U.S. power metal at its finest!"
Albums:
PSYCO DRAMA's debut album, The Illusion, was a unique blend of hooks and melodies combined with epic and progressive passages, resulting in compositions such as "Eyes Of A Child," "Flames," and "From Here" which placed them in the same league as progressive metal stalwarts QUEENSRYCHE, FATES WARNING, and DREAM THEATER.
Their second album, Bent, released in 1997 saw PSYCO DRAMA going in a heavier, more groove oriented direction, while still retaining the melodic and progressive passages they were known for. Songs such as "Quiet Sky," "No Return," and "Blind" demonstrated why PSYCO DRAMA were held in such high regard the world over.
Break Up:
In late 1997 guitarist Hercules Castro departed the band to be replaced by another Colorado talent Toby Kinnaman who played in the band Mecca. Later in mid 1998, bassist Brian Dial also left the band and was replaced by Ian Ringler formerly of the band Your Mother's Next.
In 1998 vocalist Corey Brown was contacted by extremely talented instrumental guitarist Rob Johnson from Ohio about colaborating on a new project. The two formed the band MAGNITUDE 9 and released their first CD.
Under the final line up of the band, PSYCO DRAMA continued to perform live and to write songs for what would be their third CD. Sadly, a third CD never materialized as the members of the group had different thoughts regarding the direction and musical stlye the band should move forward with. The band officially ended in late 1998.
Aftermath:
The members of PSYCO DRAMA continued on with other musical projects. Guitarist Bart Barlettano continued to work as a studio producer / engineer in Colorado before moving on to work in Nashville.
Drummer MacKenzie Kerr helped form the talented and popular county music act Chute Nine who regulary tour throughout Colorado, Oklahoma, and Texas while gaining airplay on Country radio.
Corey Brown, Ian Ringler, and Toby Kinnaman went on to form the progressive metal act SECTION 16 and have managed to gain national and international attention.
Corey Brown continued on with MAGNITUDE 9 and has to date recorded three full length albums with the group.
Corey has also gained attention and acclaim as being an amazing and powerful vocalist. This praise gained Corey the role as vocalist with the established London based group BALANCE OF POWER.
