ARACHNES - PARALLEL WORLDS - 2001

This was my first encounter with this Italian band. Italian band with a band name that means Spider on Greek, and the initial surprise was like a spider bite to me, really.
First of all i was very attracted by the cover art of the album, very nice, great graphic design, and if you look closer, you'll find a mosquito sucking out whatever the cover art have (i don't think is blood).

I found this record in a store here in Lima, i heard a song from them before, so i said to me, "what the heck, let's give myself a little treat", i bought the record and it was love at first sight, i loved the record immediately, but destiny draw us apart and a friend of mine lost my precious Cd. Here we are years after and i have the record once again, thanks to Daniel from Scarlet Records.

The years have passed by and my musical tastes have changed a lot, I'm not so drawn to Power Metal as before, but still i think this is a great album, from the piano intro "Prelude" you know you're in for a ride, "Arachne" show us a Power fest with some choirs, "Narrow Road" is a great melodic piece, my favorite song of the record is "Loveless" a fantastic song, with a catchy chorus and great composition a must hear for everyone that likes great music.

Arachnes also have established as an act that uses a lot of classical influences in their music, each record has classical pieces (á la Malmsteen). This record has a three song piece "Suite in A Minor" filled with classical scales and fantastic guitar work.

This is by far my favorite album of Arachnes to the date, is filled with great tunes, catchy hooks and great musicianship. Italians have prove one more time that not every trick have been used in the Melodic Metal field. A must for any fan of Power Metal!
