Замечательный альбом замечательного барабанщика замечательной группы Planet X. Замечательные гости из замечательных джазовых коллективов. Замечательно в бесконечной степени, геометрическая замечательность....On The Virg features the incredibly talented drummer Virgil Donati and some other not so well known but equally gifted musicians from Australia. The music is a technically challenging form of heavy fusion, equal to anything his current band Planet X has done to date. This music shows that Donati is not only an anomaly in the percussion world, but how much his compositional sense lends to Planet X, as many songs have a similar vibe to them, and this is a good thing. If you are not familiar with Planet X, they are an exciting new band, that has encompassed the great prog/fusion bands from yesteryear, bands like: Brand X, UK, Return to Forever, etc. They also have mixed in the sounds of todays progmetal intensity. This cd really brings shows how great musicians can focus on songs and themes, without regard to solo spots, however, they get to strectch out as well.rnrnSo if any of the bands mentioned to this point are of any interest to you, you can\'t miss on this future classic in this genre. Of special note as one listens to this cd, you will be subjected to time signatures that are seemingly not humanly possible, complexity that will confound your aural senses, and intensity that gets you invigorated with adrenaline. This is either a warning or a compliment, from me it\'s the latter. The more I have listened to this cd, the familiarity of the songs only gets better, and hearing the nuances of each players contribution gets more magnified on each successive listen.rnrnDonati has become a spotlight player, and deservedly so, his abilty to concoct multi-dimensional polyrhythms has been well documented, yet the other contributors here are equally worthy of mention beyond participating as back-up players to Virgil Donati. Evripodou (bass), Simon Hotsford (guitar), and Phil Turcio (keyboards) can hang with the very best in this genre, and together they have built seemingly impossible song structures of obnoxious difficulty for mere mortal musicians. They of course are helped out with other notable fusion luminaries Brett Garsed (guit), TJ Helmerich (guit) & Ric Fierabracci(bass), as guest musicians. All in all, this rates with my top ten all time electric heavy fusion cds, and that is in some very good company, it\'s a can\'t miss...
