Brand New is the fifth and final studio album by rap trio Salt-n-Pepa. It was released on October 21, 1997 by Red Ant Entertainment. Red Ant filed bankruptcy before the album was officially released. Salt-n-Pepa toured to support the album, despite the fact the album had no other promotion whatsoever. Brand New had two minor hits: "R U Ready" and "Gitty Up", the latter of which samples the Rick James song "Give it to Me". The album was certified gold in the US.

Very Necessary is the title of the fourth studio album by rap/hip-hop group Salt-n-Pepa Released in 1993, the album went on to become the most successful rap album by a female act. It was produced by Cheryl James (Salt), Sandy Denton (Pepa), Dee Dee "Diedra" Roper (Spinderella), and Hurby Azor. It resulted in several Billboard hits for the female hip-hop trio, including "Shoop" (their first top 5 pop hit, peaking at #4), "Whatta Man" (featuring En Vogue) (their biggest hit at #3), and "None of Your Business", a top 40 hit which would win them their first Grammy Award. "Very Necessary" peaked at number four on the US Billboard Top 200 Albums Chart, and has been certified 5 times platinum by the RIAA for sales in excess of five million copies in the US. The album sold an additional two million copies internationally, for total sales of seven million.
