Moonstone - Moonstone (1973) (2005)

This band was from Alaska, and recorded this on a Canadian label back in 1973. This is very nice stuff, with excellent acoustic guitar, good electric guitar leads in places, piano, percussion, some flute, and very nice male/female vocal harmonies. Some of the album has a really sparse sound evoking a vibe not unlike what the Australian band Extradition did on their album. The only problem here is that there are 2 or 3 really lame songs towards the beginning of the album that really disrupt the flow. If it were not for these songs, this album would be considered an all time classic. Still there are plenty of great songs here, making it worthy of any acid folk collection.
