Fondamenta lance la Phoenix Collection en rendant hommage a l’immense violoncelliste qu’est Andre Navarra, a l’occasion des 30 ans de sa disparition. Accompagnées de son fils, l’équipe de Fondamenta a parcouru l’Europe, à la recherche des bandes originales - dont plusieurs étaient encore inédites ou abandonnées - afin de dresser le testament artistique de l’un des plus illustres violoncellistes et fondateurs de la grande tradition française du violoncelle.

Chacune des bandes a été restaurée minutieusement a l’aide du process Phoenix Mastering que Fondamenta a mis au point pendant plusieurs années et dont l’une des étapes repose sur des technologies Devialet.
Il en résulte un coffret unique de 6 disques, réunissant tous les grands concertos pour violoncelle avec une qualité de son jusqu’alors inégalée.

En 15 ans (de 1954 a 1969) André Navarra aura enregistré la plupart des œuvres majeures du répertoire du violoncelle avec les plus grands orchestres (Halle Orchestra, Orchestre de Paris, Czech Philharmonic) conduits par des chefs d’orchestres tels que Sir John Barbirolli, Charles Munch, Karel Ančerl et Pierre Dervaux, tout en collaborant avec les violonistes Tibor Varga ou Josef Suk.

En harmonie avec ces grands musiciens, André Navarra a su aborder tous les styles, depuis la finesse de la musique française de Lalo et Saint-Saens en passant par le romantisme de Dvořak, Brahms et Elgar, le bouillonnement slave de Prokofiev, Khatchatourian, Martinů et Kodaly jusqu’à la pureté de Carl Philipp Emmanuel Bach.

Cependant cette carrière de soliste, hors du commun, a trop souvent été occultée par la renommée du maitre prodigue de la grande Ecole française du violoncelle. C’est pourquoi Fondamenta a voulu rappeler a travers ce coffret qu’André Navarra était avant tout un soliste. Mais ce coffret est d’abord destine a tous les amoureux du violoncelle qui vont retrouver une voix unique qui s’est éteinte en 1988, laissant derrière elle un héritage que Fondamenta fait aujourd’hui revivre.
