Formed in 2018, Italy’s TEMPTRESS was founded by members of BUNKER 66, Children of Technology, Gargoyle, and Boia with the intent of giving free rein to their passion for the dreamiest and most melancholic heavy metal bands of the ‘80s – cult names such as Proud and Randy as well as the eternal Heavy Load and Gotham City, among others – without forgetting the darkness of such masters as Mercyful Fate, all seasoned with a genuine obsession for catchy and melodic choruses. Their journey into dreams began with the two-song The Orb 7” for DYING VICTIMS in 2019, which was later compiled onto the label’s Dying Victims vol. 2: Heavy Metal Attack CD collection in 2023.

Blodsdåd och hor (Bloodshed and whoredom) is the third installment in the Jordfäst saga and the darkest chapter thus far. Bellowed by the winds from the past, it is forged with steel and blood in a furnace built by Scandinavian rock. The lyrical themes and musical compositions bond together, forming a strong and durable alloy. Under the unyielding strokes of hammers, the characteristic Jordfäst soundscape has been hardened, and the melodies have been thoroughly honed by melancholia to deep-cutting perfection.
“Ett altare av skärvor” (An altar of shards) combines fragments from Völuspá with imagery of violent manipulation and mental torture to explore the everlasting desire in humans to make sense of their existence. “Dit gudarna trälar är” (Where the gods are thralls) journeys through centuries of Swedish history, shaped by steel and iron industry and defined by relentless warfare.

"Għadam" is an album that marks a significant evolution in the band’s journey making it the first death metal album ever written in Maltese, tying Maltese horror, literature and death metal into a cohesive concept. The album incorporates musical influences rooted in the island's heritage, blending the band’s signature ferocity with elements of traditional religious and folklore music, creating a unique fusion that pays homage to the band’s cultural origins. With "Għadam," Beheaded not only pushes the boundaries of their sound but also cements their legacy as pioneers of Maltese death metal.

With their fourth album "Cryptic Aura", AZURE EMOTE offer a tour de force through the outer stellar realms of death metal where the musical possibilities seem to become infinite and to expand into all directions and dimensions until the gravity of ultra heavy sound pulls everything back into a crushing event horizon. Each track on "Cryptic Aura" is unique with its own abstract insanity, but they all bond together nicely by an amalgamation of disturbing atmospheres, restless unease, and defiant creativity.

Haxprocess are playing incredibly heavy death metal music - leaden, thick and dark, and are somehow attempting to go progressive wielding that sound. It's like Morbid Angel covering The Chasm songs under the influence of Blood Incantation. This is but a vague comparison just to get some idea of what this ambitious band is trying to do over here. It's death metal through-and-through but they're doing so much with it, it would bring a tear to any classic fan of the genre. They insist on having only epic songs averaging 10 minutes; the album has only four songs and it lasts for just as long as a normal album would. The music however is relentless in its barrage of gargantuan otherworldly riffs, what with the ever-changing patterns and combinations, albeit delivered in a comfortable pace so that everything can be registered for posterity. It's an album that can withstand endless listens, offer everything a death metal fan would want and yet do so much more than an average album would because of their constantly evolving music that manages to remain engrossing as well. This is as epic as a death metal album can possibly get without letting go of any of the heaviness that's an inherent part of the band's sound over here.

When Post Animal stepped into the studio for their new album, it was the first time all six original members were in the studio together for nearly a decade. Three band members had recently relocated away from Chicago, not to mention Joe Keery having left the band in 2017 to focus on acting. In the end they started right back up at the beginning, rediscovering that uncompromising closeness of connection they all shared from those endless hours spent in practice spaces and the late-night diner runs that follow. Prolonged stretches of time together not only reinforced the strength of their friendship—it reinvigorated their music. “If you want to get one hour of good painting in, you have to have four hours of uninterrupted time,” David Lynch once said. The product of a few straight weeks together, IRON (due July 25th) not only finds them reunited with Keery but is the embodiment of 30 days of camaraderie and unbound musical exploration, their renewed connection ironclad.
