Any KISS fan knows that there is no shortage of KISS material on the market. There have already been several greatest hits packages geared toward the band’s fans over the past several years. What sets IKONS apart from the previous attempts to bottle the magic of KISS, is that Ace Frehley and Peter Criss share equal billing with Gene Simmons and Paul Stanley. In my opinion, this is truly a strong point of this compilation. All politicking aside, the greatest part about this set is that once you pop this set into your stereo and hit play, you will be taken on a wild ride with a fantastic sampling of the entire KISS library that is every bit as good today as the first time you heard it!
The packaging for IKONS is definitely as eye catching as the members themselves. The outside sleeve is jet-black and features the iconic KISS logo and the member “Ikons” beautifully rendered in all their metallic glory. Inside the package is a very cool 24-page booklet filled with classic KISS photos and a brief yet wonderfully written history of the band. This set truly is one of the best on the market in regards to price and content. There is no doubt that you get plenty of bang for your buck with IKONS. In an era where the youth of the nation is being exposed to “classic rock n’ roll” via Guitar Hero and Rock Band, this compilation is timely and serves as a terrific jumping off point for fans just discovering the rich history of the band.

Disc 1 features blood-spewing tongue lord Gene Simmons, and includes standards like the hard-rock anthem "Rock and Roll All Nite" and primitive come-on "Calling Dr. Love." Disc 2 belongs to pretty-boy Paul Stanley and ends with his possible career zenith, "I Was Made for Lovin' You," their "disco" song. As the Grateful Dead story continues with this 12-disc sequel to the equally outsized The Golden Road (1965-1973), the band leaves the relative comfort of the '60s (hey, it suited them just fine) and heads into a period that will provide them with greater rewards as a performing outfit, and greater challenges as a studio entity. The post-'60s Dead floundered nearly as often as they soared--at times haphazardly trying to play the game as defined by more disciplined bands of the '70s and '80s, at other times succeeding almost in spite of themselves. This was a time when they allied themselves with such unlikely coconspirators as hit-minded mogul Clive Davis (after their own label fell by the way) and Fleetwood Mac producer Keith Olsen. They consciously reached for commercial gold and fell short, then found it on their own terms--by recording the 1987 studio album In the Dark in a vacant auditorium.
As with the first Rhino box, Beyond Description (1973-1989) gets the kind of state-of-the-art remastering one would expect from the sonically ambitious bunch. Considering the amount of posthumous product released since Jerry Garcia and the Grateful Dead's demise in 1995, perhaps a better name for the band would be the Living Dead. However, there is no denying the fact that the Dead's music--at various times thrilling, adventurous, simple, futuristic, old-fashioned, ethereal, abominable, ridiculous, and sublime--bears this kind of deep exploration. Rhino's 12-disc bonanza is the definitive look at the Dead's formative years, a fantastically creative nine-year period for Warner Bros. In 1965, they were a bunch of ex-folk and bluegrass musicians who were looking to jump on the rock bandwagon driven by the Beatles. This is where the long, strange trip began for the Grateful Dead. Between 1965 and 1973, the band evolved from an obscure Bay Area electric blues outfit into the world’s greatest jam band. In 1965, a Palo Alto, California cover band called The Warlocks - Jerry Garcia, Bob Weir, Ron “Pigpen” McKernan, Phil Lesh, and Bill Kreutzmann - became known as the Grateful Dead. They soon situated in the Haight-Ashbury district of San Francisco and built a spirited following through a series of free concerts, becoming one of the top draws around town. In 1967 the Dead added a second drummer, Mickey Hart, and began committing their free-form musical vision to tape. The Grateful Dead was a studio effort. Anthem Of The Sun took live tracks further via the studio, and Aoxomoxoa reached for the live experience in the studio. The Dead then gave the fans what they wanted in the form of Live/Dead, and subsequently stripped down their approach to focus on tight, melodic songs. What emerged were two of the band’s definitive statements, Workingman’s Dead and American Beauty. Это третий Альбом Децла, он вышел после трех лет затишья. и ознаменовал возвращения Децла на сцену с новым творческим псевдонимом Le Truk. Альбоме явно прослеживает философия расстафари, клип Легалайз, что в переводе означает как легализация, был запрещен к показу на телевидении, за пропаганду наркотиков, в частности марихуаны.
Вопрос «Почему пить можно, а курить нельзя?», явно очень сильно не понравился Гос. Цензорам.
Всего вместе с альбомом вышло три клипа вышеупомянутый клип Легалайз, клип Ночь совместно с Караной Сербиной, и клип Потабачим о клубной жизни.
Это альбом был скорей попыткой Кирилла вернуться на сцену чем прорывом во что то новое, в отличие от первых двух альбомов, который заняли почетное первое место в истории российской рэп музыки. Конечно другие реперы были в России и до Децла, но первым из них зашел на арену славы именно Кирилл. За ним последовали такие группы и хип хоп исполнители как Многоточие, Каста, Легалайз и другие.

The Gathering is the first-ever complete cross-career celebration of the U.K.’s much adored melodic rockers musical canon. From the very first demo’s recorded in 1974 right up to the last album, Into The Valley Of The Moonking released in 2009, The Gathering captures every era of Magnum’s life and work over 5 classic discs. Included in the chronology are previously unreleased live tracks; rare demos; hard-to-find single B-Sides featuring extended and alternative versions. Disc 5 of the set is a complete vintage live performance previously unreleased on CD and taken from the Wings Of Heaven tour recorded at the Hammersmith Odeon, London in March 1988. Accompanying the set is a sumptuous 60-page booklet which includes a ‘no stone left un-turned’ ten thousand word story of Magnum written by the Classic Rock magazine news editor, Dave Ling. The booklet also features an extensive pictorial history of the band with many previously unseen photographs and a ‘collectors spotting’ array of rare images of memorabilia and catalogue record releases. Also featured is a complete Magnum discography and Personnel list. Finally, The Gathering is wrapped in an exclusive artwork piece from Magnum’s long-standing contributing fantasy artist, Rodney Matthews.
The Gathering is the definitive Magnum release and a must-have item among the band’s loyal and devoted fan-base.

While there’s always room to omit this or that old fave from any collection – and some truth to the charge that Magnum have been over-compiled – this box set works well enough as a primer and best of-plus-rarities release, offering 78 cuts covering 1974-2009 and bolstered by 60-page sleevenotes relating the history.
Purists will query omissions such as demos of Baby I Need and One More Round The Bend, as well as CBS one-shot single Sweets For My Sweet. But there are fresh gems on offer – not least the first demo by the band centred on singer Bob Catley and guitarist Tony Clarkin, Find The Time. It’s a glam-edged singalong akin to period Mott The Hoople, which is no bad thing. Magnum’s diverse early sound reflects the Midlands unit’s fluid line-up and a financial situation requiring they back the likes of Del Shannon. Still, while honing their craft they forged their own distinct, prog-friendly brand of pomp-rock, not a million miles from Queen. An alternate take on the classic Kingdom Of Madness on Disc One is complemented by other vintage highlights, such as the singalong Great Adventure and catchy, mid-tempo The Lights Burned Out demo. As Magnum consolidated their position on the hard rock circuit, they dished out heartfelt anthems such as All Of My Life, the air-punching Foolish Heart and, in 1982’s breakthrough LP Chase The Dragon, a winning formula of lofty vocals augmented by fulsome melodic rock backing, standouts including the pleading Soldier Of The Line and rousing The Spirit. An outtake from their Top 40 Eleventh Hour set of 1983, True Fine Love, romps along on Disc Two, with trademark Mark Stanway keys to the fore over racing percussion. A demo of the standard All England’s Eyes, meanwhile, boasts clear stereo separation and period Queen stylings – notably an acoustic guitar interlude. Stormers such as the story-song On A Storyteller’s Night, from its eponymous 1985 concept classic, and the pop-rock Just Like An Arrow are present and correct, along with staple zingers such as The Prize and Les Morts Dansant: arms and lighters aloft. While the band consolidated with the Roger Taylor-produced Vigilante (spawning singles such as Lonely Night), and hit Top 5 pay dirt with 1988’s Wings Of Heaven, a resultant shift to less visceral, chart-friendly material split opinion. Discs Three and Four here feature a handful of rebel-rousers, such as Vigilante, but the emphasis shifted to more balladic material such as It Must Have Been Love and, arguably, led to a gradual loss of momentum and sonic cutting edge. Hence, there are several 12” mixes and acoustic versions – as well as live cuts – preceding Catley and Clarkson’s Hard Rain interregnum and the band’s post-millennial return. Though past glories have yet to be equalled, the likes of The Moonking keep the flame burning, while the final live disc repeats some of the period classics, adding three unissued numbers from Hammersmith 1988. Enough to warrant attention by fans old and new.
