heavymetal.about.com / UFO The Chrysalis Years (1973-1979)The British band UFO has been around for more than 40 years, and are still recording, touring and entertaining the masses. 3 of the 4 founding members (vocalist Phil Mogg, bassist Phil Way and drummer Andy Parker) are still in the band. For longtime fans or those wanting to delve into their catalog, The Chrysalis Years (1973-1979) is a goldmine of material. The 5 CD set has nearly six hours of music. It includes five UFO studio albums: 1974's Phenomenon, 1975's Force It, 1976's No Heavy Petting, 1977's Lights Out and 1978's Obsession along with their 1979 live album Strangers In The Night. There's also a previously unreleased 1974 live show, b-sides and bonus tracks.
The collection is arranged chronologically, so the 1974 concert is after the second album as opposed to being put at the end. It also means the first two songs are the 1973 German single “Give Her The Gun” and its b-side “Sweet Little Thing,” before rolling into Phenomenon. Another highlight when it comes to bonus material include the 1977 John Peel Sessions, when the band did “Too Hot To Handle,” “Lights Out” and “Try Me” from the Lights Out album.

allmusic.com / UFO The Chrysalis Years (1980-1986)This five-disc set collects all of the post-Michael Schenker albums that the British hard rock outfit released for the Chrysalis label in the 1980s, including No Place to Run (1980), The Wild, the Willing and the Innocent (1981), Mechanix (1982), Making Contact (1983), and Misdemeanor (1986). Like its 1973-1979 sibling, each disc on The Chrysalis Years (1980-1986) is stocked with live recordings, rare tracks, alternate takes, single edits, and extensive liner notes, making it a must-have for longtime fans.
amazon.com / Michael Schenker Group The Chrysalis Years (1980-1984)UK five CD set from the guitar hero and former UFO and Scorpions member. After leaving UFO in 1978, legendary guitarist Michael Schenker decided to form his own group - settling on a name that left no confusion about the creative force in the group! Chrysalis Years 1980-1984 collects together all six of Schenker's albums recorded for Chrysalis Records including bonus live tracks and more. Features his eponymous 1980 debut featuring vocalist Gary Barden, 1981's MSG featuring Cozy Powell on drums and UFO's Paul Raymond on keyboards and guitar, and the legendary Japanese double live One Night At Budokan, recorded in Tokyo on MSG's 1981 tour. Released the same year, 1982's Assault Attack was the sole recording to feature former Rainbow vocalist Graham Bonnet, before Barden's return for 1983's Built To Destroy. This set is rounded off by MSG's second live album, Rock Will Never Die which effectively became the swan song for this era of the band. EMI.
