Wolfert Brederode, Harry Sokal - Stories (2010)

When Austrian saxophonist Harry Sokal played his interpretation of Wolfert Brederode's composition "Trinity", ten years before the appearance of this CD, both Sokal and Brederode had the feeling that they had something worth developing. This has proven to be somewhat of an understatement with this, their debut recording as a duo.
Wolfert Brederode the pianist in the quartet accompanying vocalist Susanne Abbuehl on her ECM releases 'April' and 'Compass', and he also has his own quartet recording on ECM titled, 'Currents'.
'Stories' is made up entirely of original composition from both musicians, the performances are a dialogue between Sokal's poetically expressive saxophone and Brederode's lyrical, crystal clear, and at times dark piano sound. A diversity of improvised dreamscapes that will appeal to both jazz and classical listeners alike.
