Four-part double CD series comprehensive and first cross-label documentation of the only relevant German contribution to the international phenomenon of
rock music.
Progressive rock from Germany. Never before has there been a comparable compilation! Towards the end of the sixties, first attempts by German bands began to stylistically emancipate themselves from the US and British models. ProgRock and Pchychedelia from our countries was initially smiled internationally and called Krautrock by cult DeeJay John Peel. Idiosyncratic formations could not be pressed into drawers, and so a scene with a great musical range was created. The fourth and final part is dedicated to the scene of West Berlin and presents popular bands such as Ash Ra Tempel, Locomotive Kreuzberg, Agitation Free, Dissidenten, Klaus Schulze and Tangerine Dream alongside e.g. Carthage, Mythos, Emtidi, Hans-Joachim Roedelius, Cluster, Harmonia or Os Mundi. Mostly remastered from digital band copies by Marcus Heumann without washing out the original sound. With the release of the fourth and final edition, Bear Family sets a final milestone on the way to comprehensive documentation of the history of popular music in Germany from the early 1960s to the mid-1980s.
